A SELECTION OF SITES IN PARIS AND NEAR PARIS
There are many many things to do in Paris, but a good guide is a guide who guides with passion, and in Paris, there are a few places where this passion reaches its peak far as I'm concerned, and I would love to share this with you, if you wish. One or more days guiding in Paris can be combined with time in Normandy, we can work out the details together and find the best solution according to your preferences.
ILE SAINT-LOUIS - ILE DE LA CITE - NOTRE-DAME - QUARTIER LATIN SAINT MICHEL
The part of Paris that I consider "home" and where I lived for seven years (Ile St Louis), I'd love to show you around! Contact me for details if you are interested.
CHATEAU DE CHANTILLY (North of Paris, near Charles de Gaulle Airport)
Forget Versailles, let me take you to Chantilly! Home of the Duke of Aumale, son of the last King of France, first gardens designed by Le Nôtre who will later do Versailles, immense collections of various kinds, Chantilly also holds the largest painting collection after Le Louvre! Taste the real Chantilly Cream in the gardens, visit the Great Stables, largest stables in Europe, the Museum of the Horse.
BASILIQUE SAINT DENIS (North of Paris)
Final resting place of the Kings and Queens of France. Built on the grave of Saint Denis, a Bishop of Paris who died in 250 AD, the royal abbey of Saint-Denis was, from the death of King Dagobert in 639 AD until the 19th century, the burial place of 43 kings, 32 queens and 10 servants to the monarchy. The basilica was raised to the rank of cathedral in 1966.
